Fortnite has been in the news for all kinds of things, but this may not be the best reason why it hit the headlines in Australia. A Fortnite player streaming on Twitch, was apparently caught in a domestic assault situation while still broadcasting live. The alleged incident which took place on Sunday evening was reported to the Camdem Police by a witness.
The 26-year-old Fortnite streamer who was involved in the incident as the aggressor, goes by the nickname of ‘MrDeadMoth’ apparently assaulted his 21-year-old partner physically, because she repeatedly asked him to stop playing the game. The clips have gone viral on Twitter. The “Can you not? I said I’ll be out soon,” says the man before leaving the camera and we hear the sound of what appears to be a slap. The woman persists in her attempts and he takes off to be off camera once again and appears to hit her one more time. The woman appears to be crying and calls him a “woman basher”.
“Don’t hit me in the face,” she said. “Do you hear that, all you people there? He just hit me in the face.” The altercation seems to have taken place in front of a child and the woman alleges that the man does not pay any bills.
The man was arrested later that day and has been charged with common assault and served an apprehended violence order which is essentially a restraining order. The court granted him conditional bail and has to appear in court on Thursday.
