Huawei has started rolling out a significant software update for its flagship Mate 20 Pro smartphone. This is the second major update that has rolled out for the device. The latest update brings with the latest Android security patch, and a bunch of improvements.

The focus of the latest software update is to improve on the quality of a few built-in features. The Mate 20 Pro is among the best camera smartphones available currently, and the update “optimizes the camera performance and improves photo quality.”

The update also improves GPS navigation on the device, and also fixes a bug which was preventing Google Messages to show a notification badge. The update changelog also mentions improvements to the Face Unlock and in-screen fingerprint reader. The update “optimizes face unlock in certain scenarios,” and also “optimizes the in-screen fingerprint reader for faster unlock speed.” More importantly though, the latest software update also brings with the November 2018 Android security patch.

The latest software update is about 523MB in size, and brings the EMUI version to, AndroidAuthority reports. This seems to be a gradual roll out, and it should be arriving on all Mate 20 Pro devices sooner than later. At the time of filing this story, our Mate 20 Pro hasn’t received the update yet.

We recently reviewed the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and it has managed to impress out. So much so that in our books it is among the best smartphones launched in 2018. In India, the premium device retails at Rs 69,990, which is less than other premium devices like the Google Pixel 3 and the latest Apple iPhones.
