Indian smartphone maker Micromax recently revealed that it plans to launch its first smartphone with a display notch. The launch event is set to take place on December 18, and the company has already sent invites for the same. In the launch invite, the company already teased a smartphone with a notched display, and in the latest teaser on Twitter, Micromax has shed light on some more details.

As of now, we don’t know the name of the Micromax smartphone, but the teaser shows a device with gradient finish. Up front, you can see an iPhone X-like wide notch that houses dual front cameras and an LED flash, along with the earpiece. The screen also seems to have 3D curved edges.

We can also see the back of the smartphone with a dual camera setup, placed vertically, and they will come with AI powered features. Besides these, there are no details about the camera resolution, and whether the second lens is a wide-angle one, telephoto or just a depth sensor for bokeh effects.

However, it won’t be long enough till we learn more about the smartphone as the launch event is less than 5 days away. Micromax hasn’t been too active in the Indian smartphone market as it has been facing the hear from rival Chinese brands.

We already have the likes Asus with the Zenfone Max Pro smartphones, Realme with its U-series and Realme 2 Pro, and a number of options from Xiaomi in under Rs 20,000 price bracket. Will Micromax be able to offer unique features to differentiate itself from the rivals? We will learn more when the company officially announces the smartphone next week, till then, stay tuned.
